Public Notice of Ngati Kuta Mandate Hui

Tēnā koutou e te whānau,

Over the last 20 years, we’ve worked hard to right the wrongs of the Crown against Ngati Kuta. Now we are ready for the next stage of our journey and need your approval.

We aren’t ready to negotiate yet – the Crown needed hapū to form groupings, and our roopu is Te Whakaaetanga Trust with Patukeha, Ngati Manu and Ngati Torehina. These hapū all have claims in and around the Bay of Islands, and together we support the same principles of hapu rangatiratanga.

Below is a copy of the public notice being published in the NZ Herald, the Northern Advocate and on social media today.

Visit Ngati Kuta’s website for some information to explain more about this part of the journey.

A team of whānau are supporting Ngati Kuta’s journey and are here to support you through this process. If you have any questions, please do reach out.

You have received this email as you are registered as a member of Ngati Kuta.

Kia pai te rā,

Ngati Kuta trustees and support team
Glenys Papuni, Ashlee Peacock, Lynette Te Tai, Dean Clendon, Natasha Clarke, Elizabeth Ellis and Lizzie Harte.
