Rawhiti Road
Far North District Council took ownership of the land Rawhiti Rd is on from Māori
The road was taken from Māori land owners in 1976, and is in the same condition today as it was then 46 years ago. It also reinforces the apathy of council to ignore Maori settlement interests by sealing only part of it to satisfy complaining ratepayers. After taking their land council are saying they cannot afford to seal it.
Below is a submission to seal the road. It shows the hidden driveways, tight corners, all of the access and egress points. This needs to be done by the council, otherwise they should return the road to the Māori land owners to manage.
